"I told them that the Church has too long been focusing on God's blessings and benefits for us in this life. It is time, I argued, to consider our heavenly rewards which are based on our works of obedience to Him here on earth. Earthly blessings cannot be compared to our heavenly reward. But this is difficult for many believers to truly understand---especially those who are raised on a steady diet of what God can do for us on earth. Teachings on obedience and holiness---what we should do for God in response to His love for us through Christ---simply do not sell and do not draw the big crowds as do the teachings on being "successful" in this life."
